Hamas reported Israeli strikes on the location of one of the hostages
Israeli servicemen struck the place where one of the hostages, who is to be released at the first stage of the deal, was located. This was reported on January 16 in the Telegram channel of the military wing of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas.
"After the announcement of the agreement was made, the enemy army struck the place where one of the hostages of the first stage of the upcoming deal is located," the report said.
Representatives of the movement emphasized that at the moment any manifestation of aggression on the Israeli side could "turn the release of the hostages into a tragedy."
Earlier in the day, Ruslan Andreev, an expert of the Polylog Group and political consultant, expressed the opinion that Israel, despite the ceasefire agreement, is interested in continuing the conflict with Hamas.
The ceasefire agreement in Gaza became known the day before. It is expected to come into effect on January 19. During the first stage of 42 days, 33 Israeli hostages should be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
The situation in the Middle East escalated in the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to massive rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
