Pushkov commented on Trump's decision to appoint special envoys to Hollywood
US President-elect Donald Trump has put the American film industry on its ear with his decision to appoint actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone as special envoys to Hollywood. Senator of the Federation Council Alexei Pushkov said on January 16.
"Trump's decision will put the entire Hollywood, accustomed to excesses and impunity, on its ears. <...> Hollywood is one of the main, if not the main platform for shaping the values of modern America. Trump realizes this. The fight for the soul of America - that's Trump's own expression - is not a serious one to come," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Pushkov noted that all of Trump's appointed actors are staunch conservatives who believe "in the existence of only two genders." In the senator's opinion, Gibson has been the subject of unspoken bullying for his non-conformist views.
Earlier, on January 16, Trump appointed Gibson, Stallone and Voight as special envoys to Hollywood. The American leader-elect also called them his new "eyes and ears."
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the votes, while the candidate from the Democrats Kamala Harris - 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
