Эксперт объяснил причины подписания США договора о партнерстве с Арменией
The signing of the document on strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States should be viewed as an attempt by Washintogna to gain a foothold in the South Caucasus, Dmitry Sidorov, head of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies at Moscow State Linguistic University, told Izvestia.
"The US interest in concluding an agreement with Armenia is apparently due to the desire to consolidate the results of the Joe Biden administration's course in the South Caucasus. Whether the new White House administration will continue this line is still an open question," he said.
Thus, the signing of the strategic partnership agreement with the United States is a continuation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's course of distancing Yerevan from Moscow, the expert added.
"We should expect Yerevan's further drift toward Euro-Atlantic structures to the detriment of Eurasian multilateral projects," he said.
On January 14, Armenia and the United States signed a charter on strategic partnership.
