Rospotrebnadzor will strengthen quality control of fish caught in the Black Sea
Rospotrebnadzor will strengthen laboratory control of the environment in the Black Sea, as well as the safety of seafood. This was reported by the press service of the agency on January 16.
"To assess the safety of fish and seafood harvested in the Black Sea, Rospotrebnadzor introduces enhanced control for the presence of potentially hazardous substances, including petroleum products," - stated in the message.
According to the agency, currently 102 studies have been conducted.
In addition, in the emergency zone Rospotrebnadzor employees check the quality of atmospheric air in residential areas and places of work of liquidators. In addition, they analyze water from sources of drinking water supply and distribution networks, as well as ready meals from field kitchens and places of accommodation of volunteers.
Earlier, on January 15, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev said that the bunding of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which leaked fuel oil, will be completed by the evening of January 16. According to him, an external circuit will be created to localize fuel oil leaks towards the sea.
On December 15 last year tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
On January 2, 2025, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported that 2.4 thousand tons of oil products fell into the Black Sea. The next day the oil slick was found at the entrance to Balaklava Bay off the coast of Sevastopol. After the city declared a state of emergency of regional character, it also became known that fuel oil moved north along the coast of Crimea.
On January 11, in the Black Sea region of Crimea introduced a state of emergency threat regime of a municipal nature because of the identified fuel oil stains.
