Rospotrebnadzor found no contamination in fish caught in the Black Sea
Fish caught in the Black Sea is not contaminated with oil products. This was stated by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova on January 16.
"Here to date, almost 200 such samples have been performed, and so far we see no deviations, we see no violations. <...>The fact that we have sampled to date clearly demonstrates that contamination has not occurred in those samples that we have investigated," she said on air on theRossiya 24TV channel.
According to Popova, Rospotrebnadzor offered businesses to conduct tests of each batch of fish caught in the sea waters of Krasnodar Krai and in the vicinity of Crimea in its laboratories. These analyses will be financed at the expense of the federal budget. The head of the agency added that the work will begin in full in the near future.
On the same day it was reported that Rospotrebnadzor will strengthen laboratory control of the environment in the Black Sea, as well as for the safety of seafood. In addition, in the emergency zone, Rospotrebnadzor employees check the quality of atmospheric air in residential areas and places of work of liquidators.
Earlier, January 15, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev said that the bunding of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which leaked fuel oil, will be completed by the evening of January 16. According to him, an external circuit will be created to localize fuel oil leaks towards the sea.
On December 15 last year tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. As a result of the incident there was a spill of oil products. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
