The IC has charged Morgenstern with violating the law on foreign agents
The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has charged Russian rapper Alisher Morgenstern (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia) with violation of the law on foreign agents. This was reported to "Izvestia" by the musician's lawyer Sergei Zhorin on January 17.
He specified that his client does not admit guilt.
Earlier, on September 8, 2024 it was reported that Morgenstern was prosecuted under part 2 of article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evasion of duties provided by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents"). On October 11, the Moscow City Court found the musician's fine in this case lawful.
Also in September, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the artist may be wanted. Commenting on this information, Morgenstern's lawyer said that there are no grounds for this and that his extradition to Russia is impossible.
The Russian Ministry of Justice entered the artist in the register of foreign agents on May 6, 2022. Morgenstern posted political materials aimed at "forming a negative public opinion on the conduct of politics in Russia".
