Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, January 16, signed a decree on conscription of citizens in reserve for military training in 2025.
"To call up in 2025 the citizens of the Russian Federation staying in reserve for military training in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, rescue military formations of the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, state protection bodies and bodies of the Federal Security Service," the document reads.
The Russian government and executive authorities are ordered to ensure the implementation of measures related to the draft of reserve soldiers. The decree was adopted in accordance with the Federal Laws "On Defense" and "On Military Duty and Military Service", it comes into force from the date of publication.
Who is in the reserve
After service, servicemen are enlisted in the reserve in four categories: privates, junior officers, senior officers and senior officers.
In addition, the reserve includes those who have attended a military college or university, completed alternative civilian service, are exempt from conscription, or have received a deferment until the age of 27. The reserve also includes those who have not performed military service without legal grounds.
For the period of military training, reserve members are released from work and training duties with pay. In addition, they are credited with the amount of average earnings or a stipend at the place of permanent study or work.

In addition to clothing, you should have a knife, watch, lighter, repellent, flashlight, towel, antiseptic insoles, table and hygiene kit.

In military units there is always a minimum set of medicines, but you should take personal medications, antiviral, antiseptic agents with you. It is necessary to have analgesic medications, as well as drugs to restore digestion. Plasters, wound healing and antihistamines will be useful.
On the first day of the military training camp, conscripts should have with them a supply of food and water. On the following days you should take tea, coffee, salt, sugar, condensed milk, cookies and other non perishable products.
How long military training in Russia lasts
According to Article 54 of the Federal Law "On Military Duty and Military Service", the duration of the training camp can not exceed two months. From the moment of dismissal from the reserve, a serviceman may spend no more than one year at the training camp. It is allowed to call up for military training camps no more than once in three years.
The duration of military activities for reserve servicemen is determined by the Russian Ministry of Defense or another executive and federal authority.
Who is exempted from conscription for military service
There are several categories of citizens who are exempted from conscription for military training. These include women, citizens with three or more minor children, men over 30 years of age who have not performed military service. Also exempted from conscription are:
- those who have undergone alternative service;
- those who were discharged from the reserve less than two years ago;
- employees of the internal affairs agencies, the Federal Penitentiary Service, firefighters, customs officers;
- civilian personnel of the Russian Armed Forces, pilots, sailors and teachers;
- employees of state and local government bodies.
