The former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg produced 22 thousand cars in a year
Since February 2024, when the ex-plant Hyundai in St. Petersburg began production of cars under the new brand Solaris, by the end of the year the company has produced almost 22 thousand cars. This was announced by the press service of "Automobile Plant AGR" in Telegram-channel on January 17.
A total of 19.2 thousand Solaris cars were sold from March to December. According to the company's internal assessment, the brand took the third place in the market in the sedan class. For 10 months the dealer network has grown to 90 car dealerships. Dealerships of the brand are most widely represented in the Central (28%), Volga (19%) and Southern (16%) federal districts.
Alexey Kalitsev, CEO of AGR Group of Companies, stated that in 2025 the plant faces the task of increasing the speed of the assembly line and expanding the market share of the Solaris brand while maintaining the profitability of the business.
The former plant of South Korean concern Hyundai in St. Petersburg, acquired by Russian company Art Finance, was renamed AGR Automobile Plant in early 2024. Solaris brand cars are re-branded Hyundai and Kia and are produced in full-cycle mode. The lineup includes the HC crossover (Hyundai Creta), KRS sedan (Kia Rio), KRX cross hatchback (Kia Rio X) and HS sedan (Hyundai Solaris).
Last November 27, Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovations and Trade Alexey Yakovlev said that AGR Automobile Plant plans to launch a new line of cars together with an eastern partner.
